We are less than a month away from the new iPhones! For those of you thinking about upgrading in September, here’s everything we know so far about the new iPhone 16 lineup.
This year’s iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are rumored to be getting even bigger, especially with the displays increasing to about 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. For comparison, the 15 Pro and Pro Max currently have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. These new display sizes would be the largest ever for an iPhone!
The standard iPhones will have a new vertical arrangement for the cameras, and this isn’t just an aesthetic change but a practical one. This new layout would now allow for spatial video recording, so you can watch those videos on your Apple Vision Pro. Currently, this feature is limited to the 15 Pro models.
The Pro Camera Stuff
Specifically for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, there could be an upgrade allowing it to feature a super telephoto periscope camera for dramatically increased optical zoom. The term “super” or “ultra” telephoto usually describes cameras with a focal length range of over 300mm. The current telephoto lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max is at 77mm, so if accurate, this could be a substantial zoom increase. Super telephoto cameras are often used for sports and wildlife photography, but the extremely soft backgrounds they can create also make them useful for portrait photography—just be prepared to stand really far back to make that happen!
