The new iPhones are finally here, but latest iPhones are seeing lower than expected pre orders, especially the pro models. Now, if you’re on the fence about whether to go for this year’s iPhone 16 or skip it and wait for next year’s big upgrade, then here are ten solid reasons that why you should wait for the next years iPhone 17.
The Design
The iPhone 16 is the last model with that triple-camera layout that was first introduced in 2019 with iPhone 11. Next year’s iPhone 17 will feature a brand-new design, possibly inspired by the Google Pixel 9 Pro’s camera layout. Personally, I’m excited to see how this goes, especially for the Pro models.
Additionally, there are rumors about a new, ultra-thin iPhone model that Apple might call the “iPhone Air.” This phone will be sleeker and slimmer—something totally different from what we’ve seen before. The Pro models are also expected to slim down, but it’s unclear how this will affect battery life. Will it still be solid? Only time will tell, but things are looking exciting!
Smaller Notch
Apple has been slowly reducing the size of the notch on their iPhones, but next year’s iPhone 17 is expected to have an even smaller one. Apple is reportedly working on incorporating a circular cut out for the front camera, while Face ID will be hidden under the display.
This information comes from Ross Young, a trusted source with an incredible track record for leaks. According to him, Apple plans to fully implement under-display Face ID by 2026, with the 2027 iPhone model completely eliminating any sort of notch or hole. While that might be a few years away, Apple is clearly working toward big changes—especially since the iPhone 16’s pre-orders didn’t quite meet expectations. Apple’s got some worries, and we can expect them to make even bolder moves next year.
Brighter Displays and 120hz For All
It’s 2024, and Apple is still selling iPhones with 60Hz displays—specifically, the base models of the iPhone 16. Let’s be real here: this feels outdated, especially when even budget Android phones offer at least 90Hz of refresh rate. But don’t worry, because Apple knows this and plans to retire the 60Hz display with the iPhone 17. So, if you go for the iPhone 16, just know you’ll be getting the last model with that old tech.
Next year, Apple will introduce even better OLED displays, which they didn’t really upgrade this time around. We’re talking about higher brightness levels up to 3000 nits—and more power-efficient screens. Trust me, you’ll want to stay tuned because I’ll be posting more updates as soon as we get the latest leaks!
